Accounts Assistant

RECfinancial are exclusively recruiting on behalf of a well-established Leicestershire FMCG organisation, who are seeking to appoint an Accounts Assistant to join their team on a full-time permanent basis. Working Monday to Friday office based. 

This is a unique opportunity to become part of a creative and supportive team that values progression and development. Working closely with the Financial Controller,  the successful applicant will benefit from hands-on guidance, while gaining valuable experience within a busy finance function.

This role would be commutable from Leicester, Market Harborough, Kibworth, Great Glen, Leicestershire and North Warwickshire.

Main role of the Accounts Assistant 

 

The primary responsibility is to manage the transactional accounting functions, with a particular emphasis on Accounts Receivable. This involves performing a variety of finance-related tasks that require a strong analytical approach, a proven ability to meet strict deadlines, and the capacity to operate effectively within defined timeframes. 

The Accounts Assistant role demands meticulous attention to detail and a pro-active attitude towards maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records. Furthermore, the successful candidate will be expected to identify and implement process improvements within their area of responsibility to enhance efficiency and accuracy. 

This will involve regular interaction with internal and external stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and ensure smooth financial operations. Plus, supporting the overall financial department, by ensuring timely cash collection and accurate reporting of receivable balances.

Responsibilities of the Accounts Assistant

 

  • General accounts receivable ledger duties, including assigning entries to correct ledgers.
  • Dealing with incoming queries and managing a shared inbox
  • Processing all incoming invoices and updating the internal system.
  • Reporting of monthly income and expenditure.
  • Bank / balance sheet reconciliations
  • Dealing with expenses and managing refunds and deposits.
  • Supporting with the stock and inventory income and completing monthly reporting 
  • Petty Cash
  • Credit Control
  • Plus any ad hoc finance duties.

 

Skills and experience:

 

  • Sage 
  • Excellent MS Excel skills, pivot tables 
  • Willingness to learn
  • Good attention to detail 
  • Self–disciplined, with good time management skills and the ability to manage and prioritise various tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
